This is a fantastic 6 month fixed term contract opening for a BD specialist to join the Corporate team of one of the premier international legal firms to provide support to the London M&A practice, with a focus on priority sectors including Energy, Infrastructure and Environmental law practices.
Reporting to the Senior BD Manager for London Corporate, the BD Manager will be an integral member of the BD team for the Corporate practice, providing both strategic and day-to-day practical business development support and advice to the Corporate M&A team. Supported by two shared BD Executives, the role holder will help drive the BD strategy for these top tier practices and provide oversight to the BD Executives in executing day-to-day business development tasks. The successful applicant will need to collaborate closely with the FIG and Insurance sector groups on a cross-practice basis. It is critical the teams have the highest quality BD resource to help them raise their profile, help drive the business, capture market share and convert the opportunities available in this competitive market. Responsibilities will include working with the partners on their business development activities including winning new business, client account management and business planning. You will also work with other marketing experts, such as PR, to maintain or raise the firm’s external profile in these and others areas.
Pre-requisites for this role include an outstanding academic record allied to previous business development experience gained in a large professional services firm to include a proven track record of achieving product-line and sector business objectives. The BD Manager will need either existing knowledge or a keen enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the energy and infrastructure sectors and related M&A and investment opportunities in terms of the markets, deals, asset classes, key players, competitive landscape and the actual structures and approaches involved in these areas. The ability to influence at the highest levels internally is essential as is a determination and robustness to succeed.
