BD Manager (Speciality Insurance) – Leading Law Firm
A leading legal firm is looking for a BD Manager to work closely with fee earners and other members of the Marketing & BD team to advise on and drive the execution of marketing and business development initiatives for the Speciality Insurance practice.
The role holder will be expected to develop a high level of knowledge about the type of legal advice and services offered by the Speciality Insurance practice and will need to spend a significant amount of time learning about the firm's capabilities and reading up on legal and regulatory developments in the sector. The BD Manager will contribute to the BD sector planning and budgeting process and subsequently work with the fee earners to implement the plan and oversee the ongoing activities of specific sub-sector groups, covering BD and marketing planning and the execution of specific initiatives. Responsibilities of the role will include leading the development of new product offerings, working with partners to define the benefits of the new products and the most effective routes to market and marketing & BD planning and budgeting. You will contribute to the formulation of internal and external communications strategies and then implement accordingly, ensuring best practice is observed. You will be tasked with strengthening the firm’s reputation across Speciality Insurance through the identification of speaking, advertising and media opportunities and will oversee the project management of directory and award submissions and develop high quality written content. You will assist in preparing updates on key trends and opportunities, contributing to brainstorming discussions on how the firm can develop the opportunities highlighted. The successful applicant will support fee earners with tenders, including conducting a bid / no bid process, managing the logistics of the pitch process for any assigned pitches, gathering of relevant material and information and writing formal responses. On the client development side, you will manage and develop a priority client, helping the client team to be outward-facing and focused on revenue generation opportunities and also contribute to the broader firm wide approach to client management by ensuring that client relationship management best practices and skills are widely adopted across the firm.
Applicants will have a solid understanding of the Insurance sector and extensive industry sector experience in a marketing and business development role gained in a professional services firm, to include previous client management experience. Client Account Management experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will also possess a university degree in business, marketing or a related area and a professional marketing qualification or equivalent. The BD Manager will have strong experience in the end to end management of the pitch process and a demonstrable ability to provide effective challenge to fee earners. Familiarity with CRM systems, document management systems, intranets, websites and experience in social media, PR and online services would be an advantage.
