Based in London, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced BD specialist to join a leading law firm to take primary responsibility for business development activities for the Corporate and Private Equity Practice and clients, in the EMEA region. The firm’s European corporate practice is consistently ranked among the top five legal advisors for public and private M&A globally and are recognised as being one of the leading firms for corporate/M&A work across Europe and globally. They are highly sought-after for advice on complex, high-end, multi-jurisdictional private equity matters and large-scale cross border acquisition, with mandates including a varied range of investments, from leveraged buyouts to consortium deals, private co-investments and minority investments. The team is developing niche expertise in the execution of “hybrid” transactions, including secondaries and special situations transactions alongside the firm’s market-leading global funds team. The Business Development Manager will enjoy a broad role, taking the lead in managing and proactively executing the EMEA BD plans for the M&A and Private Equity. Pitch support will represent a key element of the role. Sharing pitch and CRM best practice within the EMEA BD team, you will support client presentations, prepare credentials and pitches, tailoring materials for individual clients, and track, store and produce standard text and materials for pitches, ensuring consistency of pitch material and seeking improvements in quality. The successful applicant will act as Client Manager for up to three of firm’s key clients, undertaking research and analysis on clients, markets and sectors, keeping client teams informed of any developments and leading on client feedback initiatives. On the marketing side, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining key messages and marketing materials and will work with the Communications team on profile raising and thought-leadership initiatives for the practice group. You will be a bright graduate or equivalent with a proven track record of business development in an international law firm or professional services organisation. Flexible and adaptable, in order to work with ease cross-functionally and across borders, the Business Development Manager will possess a strong ability to build credibility and trust with partners globally and excellent project management skills to manage multiple responsibilities amid competing priorities, tight deadlines and changing business demands and opportunities. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of M&A or the Private Equity sector and will be fluent in both English and ideally another European language.
