Business Development Manager (Disputes & Investigations and Patents) – 12 Month FTC – Leading Law Firm
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading law firm on a 12 month fixed term contract basis as a Business Development Manager with responsibility for the Disputes & Investigations and Patents groups. These groups are some of the most innovative and forward-looking in the firm, with an interesting and exciting roster of clients.
The candidate in this role will be responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive BD service for the Disputes & Investigations and Patents teams. The role holder will work closely with Partners, Senior Counsel and Associates to drive profitable revenue growth, strengthen client relationships and enhance the brand and market profile of these practice areas. The firm has a strong sector approach and the post holder will also be expected to work with partners to strategically develop a priority sector group. You will also support the International Disputes & Investigations partners and work closely to plan and coordinate cross-border marketing and business development activities. You will be part of a BD team that is already well-established within the firm and which is respected by partners and other fee-earners for its high standards of service and the ideas and commitment it brings to business development activities. The Business Development Manager will be important in helping to build on the client development and profile-raising work that has already been done and continue to create a more structured approach to BD activities and you will also be central to helping the firm develop a more commercial outlook to its clients and its work. The role is broad in nature and you will act as a trusted advisor to practice area leaders and the broader partner team, helping to draft business plans, advising on BD investment decisions and identifying new BD opportunities. You will be tasked with devising and implementing client plans and developing key accounts, managing and supporting the bids process and credentials, and ensuring the high quality of marketing collateral, PR and events. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager for BGC and lead, develop and manage a team including one Business Development Executive and remotely supervising BD Assistants based in Liverpool.
The successful candidate will be a bright graduate or equivalent with previous Business Development Manager level experience and practical experience of a variety of BD roles including pitches, account management and thought leadership gained within the professional services sector. You will also need a robust attention to detail, a real commercial instinct, excellent communication skills and an innate ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of an organisation.
