A niche UK legal firm is looking for a versatile and proactive Business Development Manager to join their BD team, to take primary responsibility for new business, both in relation to formal and informal tenders and the pipeline process. The successful applicant will enjoy a varied role with a great work/life balance, working for a leading pensions law firm within a nurturing and inclusive culture. You will be responsible for the management and coordination of all bids and tenders which will include assessing the viability of opportunities, scoping calls, drafting and preparation of proposal documents, rehearsal of client presentations, feedback and transition planning and maintenance of the pitch library. In addition, you will be required to develop and manage a range of tools to assist efficient production of proposal documents. The role holder will work with fee earners to prepare fee quotes, retainer arrangements and other fixed fee proposals and maintain a library of pricing information. You will develop and manage the firm's new business pipeline, taking responsibility for identifying and progressing key prospects and working with fee earners to help them build relationships with individual contacts. You will need to work closely with colleagues to develop relationships with referrers and other advisers through a range of relationship development activities and initiatives. Reporting to and working closely with the BD Director in support of the firm’s business strategy and wider BD aims and managing the firm’s Digital Marketing Executive, the Business Development Manager will also monitor and report on the firm’s competitors and oversee the firm’s website and digital marketing content. You will have previous relevant experience in a Business Development role, preferably within the pensions or financial services sector, to include previous people management experience and a proven track record of drafting proposal documents and running tender processes. The Business Development Manager will be computer proficient, with a good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and ideally InDesign, and will have strong written and oral communication, research and analysis, organisational and presentation skills. Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a hunger for winning new business, you will work calmly under pressure to meet deadlines.
