An excellent Guildford based opportunity has arisen for an experienced business development and marketing professional to join a fast growing regional law firm to support the BD efforts of the dispute resolution, corporate and commercial practice groups in the role of Business Development Manager. The role holder will work closely alongside other BD Managers, with their own practice group responsibilities, and will be responsible for delivering a professional, high quality, proactive and consistent approach to business development that focusses on strengthening deepening and growing client relationships profitably across the firm’s practice and sector groups. At the centre of the role is a drive to get the firm in front of the right clients and targets, to improve the pitching process and content and to support in the development of a CRM system. The Business Development Manager will also take a lead in advising partners, lawyers, BD colleagues and other support service teams on the development of clear business plans, strategies, campaigns, initiatives and key account management. The style of working for this role needs to be inclusive across the marketing & BD team and wider business with regular reporting to the Head of Marketing & BD. You will be a trusted adviser to the practice and sector groups, helping them to deliver their business plans. This will be done by providing added-value support through the full marketing mix including profile raising through targeted campaigns, strategic management of pitches, client development and targeting programmes. Pre-requisites for this role include a strong academic background or equivalent combined with a proven track record of working in a marketing and business development team, within a professional services environment, ideally a law firm. You must be a collaborative team player, reliable, helpful, and willing to share ideas, assist in developing more junior members and generally contribute to moving the output of the team to the next level. The Business Development Manager will also possess a high attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with partners and other senior lawyers around the firm and quickly command their respect.
