An excellent Guildford based senior opportunity has arisen for an experienced business development and marketing professional to join a fast growing regional law firm in the role of Head of Business Development & Marketing. You will be tasked with the development and implementation of a BD and marketing strategy and subsequently leading the implementation of BD and marketing activities across the firm. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and with budgetary responsibility for BD and Marketing expenditure and activity, the role holder will lead the BD and Marketing team in the delivery of the firm’s business development and marketing plans. From a Business Development perspective you will implement and monitor CRM systems for key clients, creating development plans for both key clients and targets to identify cross-selling opportunities and implementing a client feedback programme, including online surveys and one-to-one telephone interviews. The Head of BD & Marketing will provide BD coaching and training, support and encouragement as required, carrying out competitor and industry research and working closely with the business to support the preparation and delivery of bids and tenders. On the marketing side you will be tasked with the management of promotional material to ensure that it is ‘on brand’ and reflects the firm’s vision and values and will be responsible for the firm’s online presence and social and digital communications including the corporate website and other sub-sites. The successful applicant will also oversee the management of any external promotional and client events including seminars, parties and dinners, PR activity and submissions to Legal 500 and Chambers directories. Pre-requisites for this role include a strong academic background combined with a proven track record of working within a professional services environment at a senior level, to include knowledge of how to effectively manage a small team. You must be an independent, self-starter with high attention to detail, good presentation skills, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with partners and other senior lawyers around the firm and quickly command their respect.
