A premium, international business law firm, recognised as one of the most innovative in Europe, are looking for an experienced International Business Development Manager to work with partners across the firm's global network to drive growth forward. This role sits within the Business Development team, whose focus is to support the development and implementation of the firm's strategy, driving profitable revenue growth through existing and new clients and developing and delivering a clear brand proposition. The role will be an influential one within the BD team, very visible to the partnership and will involve extensive influencing across all levels of the business. You will need to bring a strategic perspective and a "hands-on" approach to marketing and BD and will take day-to-day responsibility for driving, promoting, facilitating and reporting on the smooth development of the firm’s growing international practice from a BD perspective. The International Business Development Manager will be tasked with ensuring that there are relationships between the firm’s own offices and their international business groups and will develop and manage the interface between them and the firm's network of preferred relationship law firms. Acting as an internal consultant to provide a professional business development and commercial perspective and gaining and cascading knowledge of the international markets of primary interest and the best channels through which to access them, the successful applicant will work with senior business leaders to design and deliver programmes which support the delivery of the firm's international business development strategy. You will take responsibility for directing, managing and monitoring the firm’s international preferred firm network, maintaining relationships with lead points of contacts and influencers and exploring ways to engage with the firm’s relationship law firms and clients to generate opportunities. Supporting large and high profile cross-border bids and RFPs and maintaining collateral, credentials and deal lists, ensuring content is regularly updated, the role holder will capture, manage and monitor international activity and referrals to chart progress, communicate successes and to provide reports to the firm’s senior management to inform future strategy development. Working closely with the other members of the BD department to ensure international priorities are seamlessly integrated and executed and that there is effective teamwork and communication with other BD team members, other business services teams and fee-earners at all levels across the office network will be key to success in this challenging role. Credible with both clients and other senior legal professionals, you will need to be a skilled BD professional with significant expertise in different geographical markets and cultures, who can effectively manage multijurisdictional matters. Experience in international professional services firms, with deep knowledge of the inner workings of such firms both internationally and locally, and a proven track record in managing diverse programmes and projects across borders will be prerequisite. The International Business Development Manager will be highly organised, with well-developed project management skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate strong people management and development experience with an ability to build relationships quickly and to work effectively and efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
