Based in London, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced proactive and dynamic PR and communications professional to join a leading law firm to lead their communications activity across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The role holder will enjoy a varied role with the opportunity to work on a broad range of PR and communications activities and to become a member of a dynamic and professional team in a lawyer-oriented firm culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance. Reporting to and working closely with the Global Director of Marketing & Communications, you will articulate and promote the firm’s messages to all stakeholders, reflecting the firm’s vision, strategy and values. You will help to raise the firm’s profile and protect the firm’s reputation across all markets, creating clear and innovative communications strategies and initiatives across traditional and new media, aligned to the firm’s strategic objectives. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of the legal industry and developments as well as the firm’s strategic priorities to influence and drive PR activities. Developing and maintaining good relationships with business and legal journalists from key national and pan-European publications, you will manage, mentor and develop a team of 3 communications professionals in EMEA and be responsible for developing and implementing a high impact PR and communications plan for EMEA that reinforces and expands the firm’s market prominence and conveys the firm’s values and messages to a wide range of stakeholders. Working closely with Practice Group Leaders and industry business development teams you will develop bespoke public relations plans for each area of strategic focus and, in addition, develop EMEA PR plans for all marketing campaigns as part of a broader campaign plan. You will convert complex matters and messages into clear and concise content appropriate for the intended audience and draft compelling content for external and internal publication, focused on clear and consistent messaging. The PR & Communications Manager will manage a robust editorial calendar of award opportunities and directory deadlines, advising on submission strategy and messaging, and will also coach and work one-to-one with firm leaders, lawyers and other stakeholders regarding media interactions and advise and assist firm leadership on executive communications, including those of a sensitive or potentially crisis-related nature. An effective and empathetic people manager with strong relationships with relevant journalists, the ideal candidate will be a self-starting, enthusiastic and motivated team player with the ability to work with and motivate lawyers to become involved in the process of communicating with the media and to pitch story ideas and profiles effectively. The PR and Communications Manager will have previous media relations, PR and communications experience, ideally gained within a law firm or professional services firm, to include a track record of delivering PR strategies which create regular and favourable press coverage. Detail-oriented and highly organised with impeccable written and verbal communications skills, candidates must enjoy managing multiple deliverables within tight timeframes to deliver high quality work.
