A great opportunity has arisen within a big-hitting global legal firm who are looking for a Senior AI & Tech, Policy and Communications Manager to join their team on a six month fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave. The firm’s highly regarded business development, marketing and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which includes supporting partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications and events, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients. Joining one of the world’s leading AI advisory firms, the role holder will enjoy a broad role, supporting and providing a bridge for Marketing, the Markets Innovation Group and the AI Group to help shape, develop and deliver on the firm’s AI strategy and will also support the Head of Corporate Communications in developing the firm’s policy efforts as a whole. The successful applicant will continue to lead on the development and implementation of the AI communications strategy and messaging, ensuring the strategy is implemented and cascaded across the business and that all functions are pulling in the same direction to maximise the benefit to the business. You will lead on AI external communications, overseeing all global communications teams in their communications effort, liaising with journalists to ensure media coverage and managing reputational risks. You will also research and draft materials for the AI website, thought leadership for partners, and other AI-related content and support the development of all AI-related marketing materials. From a policy and public affairs perspective you will be required to support the AI Group partners to shape and implement UK, EU and global AI policy efforts, researching, monitoring, analysing and responding to relevant policy and regulatory updates and preparing briefings, supporting on consultation responses and helping partners to stay abreast of fast-moving policy and regulatory developments. In addition, the Senior AI & Tech, Policy and Communications Manager will assist the AI Group, MIG and business teams in their development of ethical AI frameworks and policies that can be delivered to clients and used by the firm. It will be also be essential to stay on top of use cases within the business, to understand and clearly communicate ethical and responsible innovation considerations and to prepare communications to clients on the firm’s responsible AI usage and deployment. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in the strategy and delivery of best-in-class marketing and communications campaigns, to include proven success in managing high profile media opportunities, journalist relationships, risk management and issue-spotting. You will have a background working at a tech company or having worked in a role where the focus was on AI or technology and some experience working with outlets like the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal and Wired, particularly in packaging and pitching high profile exclusive stories and managing internal demands around these stories. An exceptional communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, the Senior AI & Tech, Policy and Communications Manager will be comfortable working in fast-paced, demanding teams and in taking their own initiative while being flexible, pragmatic and adaptable. In addition, a demonstrable interest in the fast-evolving world of AI and an understanding of, and experience working in, policy and regulation in the UK and abroad will be key requirements of the role.
