A leading global legal firm is looking for a Senior Business Development Executive or Business Development Manager, International Markets (Africa) to join its Africa team on a 12 month FTC/maternity cover position. As the BD contact for Global Africa team, you will work the team and other Africa BD team members to execute the business plan, supporting partners and directors from across the network in preparing their local business plans (e.g. regional Africa business plans) and scheduling and preparing material for key strategy meetings for Africa (e.g. London Desk meetings and monthly meetings with Africa Leadership team). Working with partners and BD colleagues to identify and track opportunities, in particular for the firm’s global strategic clients in Africa, you'll bring new ideas of how to grow revenue and win new business, prepare occasional Africa pitches and providing best practice materials and credentials to BD colleagues and conduct market research to support client targeting projects, along with opportunity pipeline documents and keeping up to date with current issues impacting Africa, including attending relevant events. You will prepare a communications plan for the Africa blog, contribute to maintaining a suite of marketing materials for Africa practice (new brochures, one pagers, invitations etc.), and assist in raising the profile of the global Africa team and support the BD Lead in developing the firm's relationships with local counsel in Africa. You will also organise regular Africa-focused events (in London and on-the-ground in Africa). You'll have at least three years' marketing/business development experience within a partnership/Professional Services environment is strongly preferable along with experience (or a demonstrated interest in Africa or another emerging market) and familiarity with the legal industry would be highly favoured. You must be able to demonstrate ability to deliver outstanding service in a high-pressure environment, have an international outlook and a desire to think outside the box while working with dedicated and enthusiastic partners. While this is not a pitch focused role, project management of some strategic pitches maybe necessary. You'll have excellent system skills (experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook and InterAction), strong relationship building skills and take pride in your work - positively impacting those around them, whilst maintaining  composure and behaving consistently with the firm’s values and brand, treating people with respect and in a fair and consistent way.
