This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading law firm as a Senior Business Development Manager responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of the business development team supporting Disputes & Investigations, Patents, IP & Media and Commercial Technology & Data. You will be part of a BD team that is already well-established within the firm and which is respected by partners and other fee-earners for its high standards of service and the ideas and commitment it brings to business development activities. The role will have two direct reports and will work closely with Partners, Senior Counsel and Associates to drive profitable revenue growth, strengthen client relationships and enhance the brand and market profile of these practice areas. These groups are some of the most innovative and forward-looking in the firm, with an interesting and exciting roster of clients. The successful candidate will work with the Business Group Management Team to help articulate the strategic direction of the business group, identify key priorities and lead on the development of the strategic plan. The role is broad in nature and you will act as a trusted advisor to practice area leaders and the broader partner team. The role holder will be expected to facilitate the business planning process and lead on the implementation of BD and client activities arising from the plans, helping the practices achieve their business objectives, and translate sector, business group and practice area goals into specific BD objectives, working with individual lawyers to develop and deliver their BD and client development plans. Specific responsibilities will include devising and implementing client plans and developing key accounts, managing and supporting the bids process and credentials, ensuring the high quality of marketing collateral, developing thought leadership campaign ideas and oversight of events, content marketing and digital media. The successful candidate will be a bright graduate or equivalent with substantial previous experience providing commercial and proactive advice on business development, marketing and communications issues in the professional services sector, preferably in a legal firm. Expertise of working in a business development role with responsibility for disputes and investigations, intellectual property and data privacy will be a distinct advantage. The Senior Business Development Manager will need a robust attention to detail, a real commercial instinct, excellent communication skills and an innate ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of an organisation.
