This global legal firm with a long-standing track record of successfully supporting the world's leading corporations, institutions and governments is looking to appoint a Senior Business Development Manager (Financial Sponsors), to join its creative and dynamic team. This is a high profile role for a key sector and will report into the Head of Sectors & Markets and will work closely with the Heads of the Financial Sponsors group. Leading the strategic business development efforts for the Financial Sponsors sector, you will work closely with the lead Financial Sponsors partners to identify client issues, map out market trends and create an engaging programme of client development activities to drive revenue. You will also be responsible for developing a market leading communications strategy. The successful candidate will use their knowledge, skills and experience to: • Develop an excellent understanding of the Financial Sponsors market, using this to anticipate revenue generating opportunities, and to adapt the local marketing and business development approach accordingly, such that marketing collateral can be generated quickly; • Work very closely with the appropriate partners to take advantage of these opportunities and help move the dial with clients; • Take the lead on working with client teams to develop the relationships they have with key clients. Priority is to drive revenue through increased penetration of existing firm clients (across geographies and practice groups) and by identifying select new clients that fit the longer-term strategy; • Be a constant source of advice, expertise and coaching across the marketing mix for all Financial Sponsors lawyers, such that they see you as the go-to person for marketing and business development insight, recognising the value you add; • Work with colleagues in MBD to develop a market leading communications strategy that delivers on the Financial Sponsors brand aspirations; • Take the MBD lead on all major Financial Sponsors projects, ranging from high-profile pitches to Financial Sponsors events/sponsorship/academies, with partners recognising and reporting that this is the case; • Work closely with the Global Pitch team as well as Financial Sponsors lawyers to support pitches effectively; • Be responsible for at least one client account, providing CRM support. You will be a charismatic, dynamic and confident marketing and BD expert, who is highly adaptable and nimble in their approach, with excellent knowledge and understanding of the financial sponsors market – both with respect to anticipating market opportunities and understanding the competition. You will be an expert in your subject matter, able to act as a trusted advisor to Financial Sponsors partners and other senior stakeholders, possess excellent oral and written communication skills and can lead on key projects with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally. You must possess the ability to deal proactively with complexity, ambiguity and competing demands - hands on, yet working to a strategic plan with a good understanding of the partnership environment within a professional services firm. You will have a global mindset, with a clear understanding of what is best for both the firm and clients, show resilience and the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure, have excellent leadership skills and the ability to inspire confidence and strong emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
