An award-winning international law firm is looking for an experienced business development professional to join their team in London or Birmingham to progress and implement the firm’s Financial Institutions & Services Sector and Corporate, Finance & Tax Practice Group’s business development approach and activities. You will be responsible for working with the leadership teams of the FIS Sector and CFT Practice Group to agree and implement plans that deliver sustainable, profitable growth and protect important client relationships. The Senior Business Development Manager will enjoy a hands-on role requiring excellent people skills and a keen eye to identify and support commercial opportunities. You will take the lead in the management of the FIS Sector within the wider BD team to ensure clear decision-making, excellent coordination and high levels of delivery. You will work alongside the Senior Communications Manager for FIS and CFT, and other BD colleagues, to ensure that resources are managed effectively to achieve strategic objectives, whilst also working closely with international colleagues to align global objectives and pursue international opportunities together. Acting as a central knowledge resource for, and advocate of, the firm’s strategy and vision and assuming day to day supervision responsibility for a BD Executive, you will monitor and drive the financial performance of the practice group, sub-sectors and clients and will work with practice leaders and partners to develop strategic business plans, account management and budgeting. Providing business development advice and support alongside financial and operational support to stakeholders, you will support partners to drive the generation of profitable growth from clients and will lead on the development of client strategy including client-focused growth, relationship management, client listening and feedback and new sales and targeting. The successful applicant will also work with the strategic bids team on major sector focused bids to bring sector knowledge to bear and with the corporate communications and digital teams to create consistent content and messages to raise profile in the marketplace. A self-motivated and positive team player with a can-do approach and a strong ability to think strategically, to put plans into action and to prioritise and manage demanding deadlines, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and will enjoy dealing with and influencing senior people, particularly partners. It is essential that the Senior Business Development Manager can demonstrate a successful track record in business development within a legal, financial services or other professional services environment.
