Business Development Specialist (Capital Markets, Finance & FIG) – Leading International Law Firm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Specialist to join the London office of a leading international law firm. Supporting the EMEA Capital Markets, Finance and Financial Institutions Group practices, this role will play an important part in driving the strategic and commercial objectives of these high-profile practice areas.

Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, the successful applicant will work closely with Partners, lawyers and the wider global Business Development team to deliver a broad range of business development and marketing initiatives. The role will involve supporting a wide range of strategic business development initiatives across the EMEA Capital Markets, Finance and Financial Institutions Group practices. You will prepare high-quality pitches, RFP responses and tailored credentials materials, ensuring that all content is relevant and compelling for each specific opportunity. Working closely with practice leadership and senior BD colleagues, you will support cross-selling, client targeting and key client initiatives, as well as assisting with the development and maintenance of strategic business plans and tracking progress against agreed objectives. The role holder will support practice group meetings, preparing agendas, documenting key actions and ensuring follow-up activity is delivered, while also working with the Competitive Intelligence team to conduct research into existing and prospective clients, competitors, market trends and firm connections to support strategic decision-making and new business opportunities. The role will also involve maintaining CRM and experience management systems and supporting wider practice and regional BD projects and initiatives as required. From a marketing perspective, the Business Development Specialist will prepare and coordinate directory and award submissions and league tables, while working closely with the Events team on the planning and delivery of client events, seminars, webinars and sponsorships. In addition, you will coordinate with PR, Communications, Marketing, Content and Digital teams to deliver integrated campaigns and initiatives that raise the profile of the firm and its Capital Markets, Finance and FIG practices.

The ideal candidate will have proven business development experience gained within a professional services environment, with previous experience within a corporate law firm being highly desirable. Exposure to Capital Markets, Finance or Financial Institutions would be advantageous, together with a strong interest in business and financial markets. The Business Development Specialist will be an excellent communicator with strong written, analytical and research skills, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Highly organised and proactive, you will be comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced environment. The ability to work collaboratively across teams and jurisdictions, demonstrate sound judgement and discretion, and bring forward new ideas while gaining stakeholder buy-in will be essential.
