Communications Manager – Highly Regarded UK Law Firm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Communications Manager to join the Business Development and Marketing team of a highly regarded UK law firm. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will play an important part in shaping and delivering the firm’s external communications and content programme.

The position will suit a proactive, commercially minded communications professional looking to take ownership of a broad range of communications activity within a collaborative professional services environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying opportunities to showcase the firm’s expertise and developing compelling, client-focused content across a range of channels and formats. Working closely with legal teams, Business Development colleagues and Knowledge Development Lawyers, you will identify priority themes, sector developments, client stories and areas of expertise, translating complex legal and commercial issues into clear, engaging content. You will develop and manage content plans aligned to the firm’s strategic priorities and business development objectives, identifying opportunities for thought leadership campaigns, client stories, deal announcements and case studies. The role will also involve coordinating the creation, editing and distribution of written, audio and video content, ensuring consistency of messaging and tone of voice, while working closely with the digital team to maximise content across the firm’s digital channels. The role will also have a strong media and PR focus, with responsibility for managing inbound media enquiries, coordinating responses with lawyers and identifying opportunities to raise the profile of practice groups. The Communications Manager will be required to build relationships with journalists and media contacts, monitor media coverage and draft communications materials, including press releases, statements and briefing documents. You will work with the Senior Communications Manager and wider Business Development team on award submissions and liaise with external agencies where appropriate. Alongside this, you will contribute to wider communications activity across the firm, including internal and corporate communications, events and social media, while helping to develop communications processes, content standards and best practice.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience producing high-quality content and translating complex information into clear, concise and engaging communications for a range of audiences. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills are essential, together with excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. The Communications Manager will be commercially aware, with an understanding of how effective communications can support wider business objectives, and confident building relationships with Partners, lawyers and stakeholders at all levels. A collaborative and proactive approach is important, as is the ability to influence and work across different teams to deliver high-quality communications that strengthen the firm’s profile and client engagement. An understanding of SEO, GEO and AIO principles will be valuable, together with an interest in emerging communications trends and new formats across the legal and professional services sectors.
